Professor Wei Zeng is an assistant professor in Computational Media and Arts (CMA) Thrust, and jointly appointed in Data Science and Analytics (DSA) Thrust, Information Hub, HKUST (GZ). He is currently also affiliated in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, HKUST. Before joining HKUST, he worked as an associate researcher at Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a senior researcher and CIVAL coordinator at Future Cities Laboratory, Singapore-ETH Centre. He received both the bachelor and Ph.D. degree in computer sciences from the Nanyang Technological University.

Dr. Zeng's research focuses on the interplay between human, machine, and big data, specifically on visualization and visual analytics, AR/VR, and deep learning. Currently he is interested in computational visualization design, situated visualization in AR/VR, and visual analytics. He has published over 30 journal/conference papers in the related fields, and won best paper and honorable mention awards in ChinaVis, VINCI, and IV. His work is funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (general and youth programs), and Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation. He also coordinated the Virtual Singapore project that received over 1.2 million SGD fund.
