Dr. Weikai Yang is an assistant professor at the Data Science and Analytics Thrust and the Computational Media and Arts Thrust in Information Hub, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). Prior to this, he received his Ph.D. degree from Tsinghua University in 2024, under the supervision of Professor Shixia Liu.

His research primarily focuses on the intersections between visual analysis and machine learning. The goal is to help general users understand large-scale data and utilize machine learning models more effectively and efficiently by incorporating their knowledge and feedback. Specifically, his research directions include VIS4AI, AI4VIS, human-AI collaboration, intelligent data analysis, and active learning.

He has published over 10 papers at premier visualization and machine learning conferences and journals such as IEEE VIS, IEEE TVCG, and ACM MM. Some work has been integrated into the solutions of multiple enterprises or institutions, such as Kuaishou and Shanghai Data Exchange, to improve the performance of machine learning models. He has served as a program committee member or reviewer for international conferences and journals, including IEEE VIS, IEEE TVCG, PacificVis, IUI, and AAAI. In addition, he has also been awarded the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award from Tsinghua University, and Distinguished Doctoral Graduate from Beijing and Tsinghua University.
