Qiushi Zhou is an incoming Tenure-Track Assistant Professor affiliated with Thrust of Computational Media and Arts and Thrust of Internet of Things. Prior to joining HKUST(GZ), he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Aarhus University, funded by the Pioneering Centre of Artificial Intelligence in Denmark. Qiushi obtained his PhD from University of Melbourne in 2023.

With broad interest in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Qiushi’s research focuses on building and understanding fundamental interaction techniques for future XR interfaces. The main themes of his work include novel eye+hand input techniques in XR, creative use of augmented mirrors in both practical and artistic contexts, and theoretical and historical reflections on interaction design concepts and paradigms. Qiushi serves as Program Committee and Editorial Board members for top HCI venues, including CHI, UIST, and ISS. He has collaborated with global industry leaders in XR, including Google, Meta, and Logitech, and with renowned artists to build interactive installations exhibited at galleries and festivals in Australia.

Qiushi has multiple open PhD and RA positions, as well as MPhil research supervision opportunities.
